The mission of Expo has always been to make it as seamless and delightful as possible to build fantastic apps. And now we’re introducing a new way to build those apps.

Today we're introducing the beta of Expo Agent, our approach to agentic app development and the AI builder we've always wanted to exist.

Describe the app you want. Expo Agent builds it: a real, production-quality native app for iOS, Android, and the web. Not a prototype. Not a demo. Something you can actually ship.

The agent can write real SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose, and targets the full platform including widgets and live activities. It can also move faster using React when that's the better fit. Need an APK for Android or an App Store build for iOS? Just ask. When it hits a native challenge along the way, it solves it and keeps going.

This is what we built Expo for. The framework has always been about giving developers the full power of native without the unnecessary friction. Expo Agent extends that to everyone.

The agent is powered by Claude Code and tuned by the Expo team, with deep knowledge of the full Expo ecosystem, native build pipeline, and platform APIs. It understands how to get from idea to shipped app, and it doesn't stop at the easy parts.

Overall, it's just really fun to use. Watching an idea turn into a working native app in minutes, then pushing it further, is something we never get tired of. It feels like having an enthusiastic and talended mobile engineer on call 24/7.

You can test your app on simulators without an Apple Developer Program membership, watch builds progress in real time, and install on your device through our companion desktop app. When you're ready, deploy to the App Store and the web from the same browser you started in.

The agent.expo.dev website is just the first surface. Our vision is bigger.

We want Expo Agent to be a forward-deployed engineer for your project: something that works alongside you and other agents, proactively catches issues, upgrades dependencies, and keeps your codebase healthy without you having to ask. Not a tool you open when you need it, but a contributor that's always on.

Over time, the agent will go wherever you need it. We're building toward a world where the gap between having an idea and having a great, well-maintained app is as small as we can possibly make it.
