A note from your friends at Expo

Dear developers,
This year was really something.
React Native and Expo have been moving fast. We've seen more and more large companies adopt React Native over traditional native frameworks. We've also seen just about every idea-to-app tool use React Native and Expo to generate prototypes for creators. We're proud to be part of this story. But what really moved us was watching you build.
At this year's Expo App Awards, we were stunned. The quality and craftsmanship wasn't just good, it was on another level. Expo apps are now so good that we're starting to track how many apps on our personal phones are built with Expo.
We hit our 10-year anniversary this year, but in a lot of ways it feels like we're just getting started. This year we released CI/CD Workflows to help developers get to the app stores, Hosting to host your cloud functions, SDKs 53 and 54 with additions like expo-ui, and a whole lot more.
Next year, expect real progress on things that are still too hard: prototyping ideas quickly with your friends, getting AI assistance that's fit for professional developers, writing reliable end-to-end tests, sharing previews of your changes with your team and testers, and getting mobile-specific observability metrics for every route in your app. We're currently working on making these things feel effortless.
We'd be remiss without acknowledging you. Expo is not a solo project and many of you contributed in a million ways. If you made PR on the Expo SDK, chimed in on Discord, talked to us on X or Reddit, or said, "Hello" at a conference, we're really grateful for your feedback and contributions. You're not just using these tools. You're part of the team building them.
Here's to an even bigger 2026. We can't wait to see what you'll build next.
