We're seeking an Inside Account Manager to help build and scale Expo's new inside sales motion: you will help drive revenue, adoption, and usage across our rapidly growing base of business customers. You'll own the full cycle: finding the best accounts to add value, connecting with active users, running demos, closing deals in the $5K-$20K range, and expanding accounts through new products like Hosting, Workflows, Observability, and Analytics. This is a rare opportunity to shape how Expo monetizes its developer-led growth and to lay the foundation for a scalable, high-velocity PLG sales engine. You'll work directly with leadership to refine our playbooks, test new approaches, and turn product usage into durable, expanding revenue.
We're a remote-friendly, ~40-person Series A startup operating at the intersection of developer tools and AI-powered app creation. The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of experience in a technical role or product-led sales experience, is technically curious, and thrives in fast-moving, builder-style environments where experimentation and customer empathy drive success. PT Hours required.
As a Technical Inside Sales representative, you will:
Own full-cycle SMB deals: Prospect into our install base, qualify, demo, and close ACVs typically $5-20k—and then grow them.
Run a hybrid AM motion: Stay close post-sale; drive adoption, usage growth, cross-sell (e.g., Hosting, Workflows, Observability, Analytics), and renewals. Actively participate in customer Slack channels, answering questions and proactively introducing customers to new features and products.
Be a product guide: Translate developer pains into outcomes. You can speak credibly about SDKs, CI/CD, test automation, Observability, and app store deploys—even if you're not a developer. We expect you to be building something on the side.
Mine the install base: Turn active projects and usage signals into expansions; create new product usage with targeted plays and drive adoption. Help customers find savings and derive more value. Find creative ways to engage customers and add value.
Instrument the loop: Capture customer patterns and feed crisp insights back to Product, Growth, and Marketing (positioning, ICP, packaging).
Use AI as leverage: Draft outreach, summarize calls, score leads by product signals, and trigger plays when accounts hit plan limits. Use AI in creative ways to increase your leverage.
Expo is building the inside sales engine that turns our massive developer adoption into growing revenue and usage. You'll be our first hire in this motion—owning a high-velocity, SMB segment with a land → adopt → expand approach. Think: part AE, part product guide, part account manager. If you're commercially hungry, technically curious, and love helping builders ship faster, this is the job.
We are putting a heavy emphasis on the technical acumen for this role, if you are a developer, SE, or have spent the last year building and now you want to step into Sales and Account management, this is the role for you.
Curious + technical: You ask sharp questions, learn products fast, and love giving your own demo. (Junior devs or "engineering-curious" sellers do great here.)
Obsessed with the fundamentals and the details: You're relentless about following up on time, being hyper responsive, owning actions with customers, taking great notes, and remember the details about your customers.
Builder mentality: Early-stage comfort, low ego, high accountability; you create structure where none exists.
Customer-oriented: You feel like an extension of the team—responsive in Slack, crisp in comms, proactive with value.
Communicate at every level: You can speak to developers and CTOs.
We are a team driven by strong values, and we look for people who embody them:
Build developer trust: Be dependable and genuinely help developers find success with our tools. Our reputation with developers is everything.
Autonomy: Take an idea, build it, ship it, and own it. We encourage independent ownership of projects - with great freedom comes great responsibility.
Flexible primitives: Provide powerful building blocks that offer high control. We strive for flexibility in our product and in our work, avoiding one-size-fits-all solutions.
Fast-forward principle: Continuously look for ways to accelerate development for our users without adding unnecessary complexity. Speed and simplicity are core to our philosophy.
Make it work, make it right, make it fast: First, deliver functional solutions. Then refine them for correctness and usability. Finally, optimize for performance. We believe in iterating to excellence.
