Growth Manager

Role Overview

Role Overview

We're hiring a Growth Manager to own and scale Expo's full customer journey — from first website visit to trial, activation, expansion, and cross-product adoption. You'll be responsible for crafting and executing a growth strategy that increases signups, improves activation rates, and expands customer value across our suite of products, ultimately owning our self-serve revenue target.

This is a highly cross-functional role. You'll partner closely with Marketing, Product, and Sales, and report to the CRO. Your focus will be on delivering beautiful, intuitive, and data-informed journeys that drive real outcomes for developers and teams building with Expo. We are looking for someone who obsesses over the developer experience and deeply understands the ways developers purchase and adopt developer tools.

We're a remote-friendly, ~40-person Series A startup. The ideal candidate has 4-6 years of experience in a growth or product role at a B2C/B2B company with a high bar for user experience and a strong experimentation culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Growth Funnel End-to-End: Design and manage the strategy across acquisition, activation, expansion, and cross-sell. Set funnel goals and own the metrics behind how users move through each stage.
  • Website Conversion & Acquisition Optimization: Analyze how visitors engage with our site and optimize the path to signup and trial. Collaborate with Marketing to experiment with landing pages, pricing pages, and CTAs.
  • Improve Activation & Time-to-Value: Ensure customers who sign up experience meaningful value quickly. Identify key activation moments and partner with Product to create onboarding flows, nudges, and self-serve education.
  • Drive Expansion & Plan Upgrades: Develop in-product and lifecycle strategies that drive usage-based growth and encourage customers to move to higher-tier plans as they scale.
  • Launch and Scale Cross-Sell Motions: Introduce customers to new products like Workflows and Hosting at the right time in their journey. Track engagement and iterate on the messaging and sequencing that drives adoption.
  • Run Experiments That Move Metrics: Own the experimentation roadmap, prioritize hypotheses, test, measure, and scale what works. Operate in a high-cadence test-and-learn cycle.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Product to shape onboarding and lifecycle experiences. Partner with Sales and Customer Success to identify high-impact opportunities to drive expansion and cross-sell.
  • Bring Data & Empathy to Every Decision: Develop insights through analytics, research, and direct user interaction. Understand both the behavior and the emotional journey of our users, especially developers building high-stakes apps.

Qualities That Make You a Great Fit

  • You are customer-obsessed: You think deeply about what users need at every step of their journey. You don't just follow the data — you talk to customers, gather insight, and test hypotheses fast.
  • You are highly analytical and love experimentation: You're comfortable with metrics, cohort analysis, SQL, and BI tools. You know what makes a good test and how to evaluate its impact.
  • You sweat the details of UX: You care about polish. You believe every message, modal, and moment matters in creating a delightful and intuitive product experience.
  • You move fast, but build for scale: You prioritize ruthlessly and ship MVPs quickly, but you also know how to invest in systems and playbooks that scale.
  • You're a builder, not a traffic cop: This role isn't about managing a roadmap — it's about building things yourself. You're comfortable diving into Figma, writing copy, or jumping into no-code/low-code tools.
  • You care about developers and want to help them win: Expo is built for mobile developers. If you don't already love this audience, you're excited to learn what makes them tick.
