Apple has announced an upcoming change to their Apple Push Notification service (APNs) server certificates. We want to assure [Expo Push Service](https://docs.expo.dev/push-notifications/sending-notifications/) users that Expo Push Service is already compatible with the change, and **no action is required on your part**.

## What's changing?

Apple is updating their APNs server certificates with the following timeline:

- Sandbox environment: January 20, 2025
- Production environment: February 24, 2025

The change involves updating to include a new trusted server certificate [SHA-2 Root: USERTrust RSA Certification Authority certificate](https://www.sectigo.com/knowledge-base/detail/Sectigo-Intermediate-Certificates/kA01N000000rfBO).

## What this means for Expo push service users

The bottom line: **You don't need to do anything**.

Expo's trust store already includes the new root certificate and our Push Service is prepared for the transition.
